2012 Colorado Small Hydro Association Conference

Scheduled for May 17th at Denver Convention Center

The 2012 Colorado Small Hydro Association (COSHA) Conference is taking place at the Denver Convention Center on Thursday, May 17th.  The Conference is being held in conjunction with the American Solar Energy Society's (ASES) annual conference and the World Renewable Energy Forum (WREF).

"Colorado continues to lead the nation in development of innovative policies to accelerate the development of small hydro, including the Colorado Governor's Energy Office FERC streamlining program as well as the new low-interest hydro loan program offered by the Colorado Water Conservation Board," said COSHA Executive Director Monica Carey.  "The COSHA conference will highlight progress made over the past year in developing small hydro in Colorado and provide perspective on what's ahead for the future."

Confirmed speakers include representatives from the National Hydropower Association, Colorado Governor's Energy Office, Colorado Rural Electric Association, Bureau of Reclamation, Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority.

The conference will also include presentations on hydro project development currently underway, ranging from small municipal systems such as the 40 kilowatt system recently completed by the Town of Basalt, as well as large projects including Carter Lake Hydro and the 7 megawatt hydro project being developed at Ridgway Reservoir by Tri-County Water Conservancy District.

The conference will conclude with a cocktail reception being held in conjunction with the Colorado Renewable Energy Society.

The registration fee of $75 includes the conference, breakfast, refreshments throughout the day, and entrance to the World Renewable Energy Forum Exhibit Hall (see www.wref2012.org ).

"The COSHA conference is the one must-attend event each year for anyone interested in hydro development in Colorado," said COSHA Executive Director Monica Carey.  "It provides a great opportunity to see everyone in the Colorado hydro industry, including hydro developers, equipment vendors, utilities, environmental consultants, and federal, state and local government officials."

Conference registration can be completed on-line through the COSHA website at www.smallhydro.co .
